1. Introduction

 At Louisa Tutors, we are committed to the safety and welfare of all children and young people we provide tutoring services to. This safeguarding policy outlines our commitment to ensuring the protection and well-being of our students in compliance with UK legislation.

 2. Legal Framework

 2.1 We adhere to the principles and requirements outlined in the Children Act 1989 and the Children Act 2004.

2.2 We follow the guidance and procedures set out by the Department for Education (DfE), Keeping Children Safe in Education, and any relevant local authority guidance.

3. Recruitment and Screening

 3.1 All tutors are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before commencing employment.

 3.2 References for every tutor are checked, and any concerns raised will be fully investigated.

 4. Code of Conduct

 4.1 Tutors are expected to maintain the highest standards of behaviour, professionalism, and respect when interacting with students.

 4.2 Inappropriate behaviour, harassment, or misconduct is strictly prohibited.

 5. Supervision

 5.1 For students under the age of 16, a responsible adult or guardian must be present during tutoring sessions or consent must be obtained in writing from a parent or guardian.

 6. Reporting Procedures

 6.1 Any concerns about a child's welfare or safety, whether arising from the actions or behaviour of our tutors or other students, must be reported to the designated Safeguarding Officer.

 6.2 Students, parents, and guardians will be made aware of the reporting process.

7. Emergency Response

 7.1 We maintain up-to-date emergency contact information for all students and their families.

 7.2 In case of emergencies, we will follow our emergency response procedures and, if necessary, contact appropriate authorities.

 8. Privacy and Data Protection

 8.1 Student data is stored and processed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data protection laws.

 8.2 Tutors are required to handle and protect student data in compliance with data protection policies.

 9. Training

 9.1 All tutors are provided with comprehensive training on child safeguarding and receive regular updates on relevant policies and procedures.

 10. Communication

 10.1 This safeguarding policy is communicated to all tutors, parents or guardians, and students to ensure understanding and compliance.

 11. Review and Updates

11.1 This policy is reviewed and updated annually to reflect any changes in legislation, local authority guidance, or best practices.
